Small beaches in the Cinque Terre

The sun-kissed villages of the Cinque Terre were created for a beach vacation. Even though Monterosso has the only sand beach (more information on the page “The main beaches of Cinque Terre”) there are also local beaches in the other Cinque Terre villages with the exception of Manarola. All are marked on the map. Since they are small, there are no paid services or amenities.

The Cinque Terre villages are located right at the end of the coastline and people who love walking can easily explore it. The best small places for a swim are often located between the villages of the Cinque Terre. With a pair of comfortable shoes and some energy to spare, tourists can always find a place to sunbathe in one of the most beautiful bays in Italy!

You can also check out the beaches (and the monuments at the same time) in nearby towns. More information on the page “Beaches not far from the Cinque Terre”.

The beaches in Vernazza

You can get a suntan in a place located close to the main square. Not many tourists go to this beach in Vernazza, even though it is a good place to rest for a while.

Another beach in Vernazza is of major interest because of its position. To reach it, you must pass under a huge cliff through a small tunnel that begins at the main street of Vernazza. The path to the beach is most unusual.

The beaches in Corniglia

Corniglia is the only village of the Cinque Terre which is not on the sea, but sits at the top of a cliff. Therefore to get to the wild local beach you have to walk down a long staircase (343 steps), following the signs. You can sunbathe on the rocks.

In the past there was a famous beach called “Spiaggione” near the Corniglia station, but when it lost its popularity it was closed and the infrastructure built there previously has been abandoned.

Nevertheless in Corniglia there is still the possibility to spend a vacation on the beach. The beach of Guvano, the most famous (and also the only) nudist beach in the Cinque Terre, is close to this village. More information can be found on the page “Nudist beach”.

The beach in Riomaggiore

Small beach, Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre, Italy

The isolated and less crowded pebble beach is located two minutes from Riomaggiore, in the fishermen’s district. The beach is behind the rocks, not far from the marina. It is ideal for swimming and spending a romantic day.

The beach in La Spezia

Spending a day at the beach in La Spezia is not very enticing for tourists. Despite the presence of a fantastic coastline, there are no equipped beaches, but only a port full of boats, so if you want to swim you will have to go beyond the shores of the city.
