Visiting by car

If you have booked a hotel with parking you will have no problems. Use the GPS navigator to locate the routes. Otherwise use the navigator to get to one of the more convenient parking areas. The addresses of all car parks are listed below, together with the rating and advice.

If you park in the street, you must pay attention to the signs and the lines. Blue lines indicate paid parking; yellow lines indicate parking for the disabled and residents. In Italy white lines are used to indicate free parking, but in tourist areas there are very few, so pay attention to the signage because there might be a time limit (30 minutes - 1 hour), in which case you will need to indicate the time you parked the car on the parking disc or simply on a piece of paper.

Where it is best to park

The most convenient and largest parking lots are in La Spezia, especially if you are heading to the Cinque Terre from the south or east.

If you arrive from the north you should exit the motorway at Levanto and leave the car there at one of the many car parks; but in Levanto on public holidays in summer it may not be easy to find parking available (if you arrive after 10) so in this case it is better to park in Deiva Marina and proceed by train.

All parking areas are marked on the map. The nearest address accessible by most GPS navigators is indicated but the most important thing is to look for the signs and you will have no problems.

Discounted car rental in the Cinque Terre

In many Italian cities and in all airports you can rent a car, but it is much cheaper to rent it online and save money with a considerable discount of up to 30%. Use the sites Rental Cars or Discover Cars, to compare the rental prices of several companies.

Addresses of the parking areas in Levanto and Deiva Marina

Convenient parking if you're arriving in the Cinque Terre from the north.

Levanto

  • Address: Levanto.
  • Price: 2 euro/hour, but not more than 15 euro/day.
  • Places: around 500.
  • Tip: There are a lot of parking areas everywhere. The first one you encounter near the station may not have availability on public holidays in summer; in this case follow the signs and check the availability of other car parks in the town.

Deiva Marina

Parking area in Deiva Marina, Cinque Terre, Italy
  • Address: corso Italia, Deiva Marina.
  • Price: 2 euro/hour, but not more than 13 euro/day.
  • Places: more than 500 throughout the village.
  • Tip: It is better to park in Levanto, but if it is a public holiday during summer and you arrive in Levanto after 11, it’s better not to risk it, so leave the car in Deiva Marina.

Address of the car parks in Monterosso and Riomaggiore

These are the last two of the Cinque Terre villages; parking here is more expensive and getting to the villages is more difficult. Moreover, in the summer holidays you can find a place to park only in the early morning.

Monterosso al Mare: Fegina

Parking area of Fegina, view from Cape Mesco, Monterosso al Mare, Cinque Terre, Italy

Monterosso al Mare: Loreto

Riomaggiore

  • Address: Riomaggiore.
  • Price: 4 euro/hour, but not more than 35 euro/day. In the winter months, parking may be free for everyone (but it’s not advertised officially).
  • Places: 180.
  • Tip: It is much quicker to get to the village by train, leaving the car under the station in La Spezia.

Address of the car parks in Manarola, Corniglia and Vernazza

Given that they are the central villages of the Cinque Terre, we strongly advise you NOT to go by car. Car parks are located before you arrive in the village, but on sunny days they are full and access by car into the village is not permitted.

Manarola

  • Address: Manarola.
  • Price: 3 euro/hour.
  • Places: 80.

Corniglia

  • Address: Corniglia.
  • Price: 2.50 euro/hour.
  • Places: 60.

Vernazza

  • Address: Vernazza.
  • Price: 3 euro/hour.

Our recommendation is to leave the car in La Spezia at the Mirabello car park and take the ferry to Portovenere. Or leave the car in some other car park in La Spezia and go to Portovenere on the 11/P bus. If, however, you are interested in the parking situation in Portovenere, you can find more information on the Portovenere site.
